Then we woke up at 6:30 a.m., with snow down to Placerville. Everyone slipping and sliding, so after a dozen or so calls, the funeral service was canceled. Joy didn't want anyone to risk to arrive at the service. The parking lot of the church was not drivable.
Here is the snow at 9:30 a.m. driving to pick up the flowers.

I'm sorry I couldn't be there, Lynne. I loved Pat. Favorite memories:
ReplyDeleteShe collected BoxTops for me until the day she left Placerville because she wanted to help my class win the competition every year :)
She was my Sunday School teacher (Course 15, of course!) and when she married Wilson, she asked all of us girls in her class to help at the reception. She dressed us in yellow and we served food, collected gifts, and enjoyed her happiness.
When my grandparents' 50th anniversary was approaching, my mom asked Pat to help her with a quilt for them. Not only did Pat help, she kept the quilt up at her home and allowed anyone and everyone to stop by at any time and work on it. I know Pat did a lot of the work while no one was looking :)
When my grandmother passed away, my aunt asked if I would like to have the quilt because so many of the women who worked on it were my teachers and leaders as a young woman and my friends now. So it has become a momento not only of my grandparents, but of Pat as well.
Carrie,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your wonderful memories. They are important to all of us, especially her grandchildren.
