Owen is a Cub Scout den leader and Cami is the Cubmaster. She is new to the post but is doing a great job. Tonight was the Pinewood Derby. This is a big event for these cubs. They all did a great job with their cars. Cami did a wonderful job organizing, decorating, etc. The kids had to check in their cars, weigh in, etc. Owen and Greg helped with that and Cami had asked that Greg and I judge the races. I was very tired because I worked late everyday this week, but I stopped by the church on the way home to see if she still needed me to judge. She did but she was willing to let me go home. I didn't want to bail on her so I stayed and I was so glad I did. Those cute kids and the excitement they had for the races really gave me some energy. Also, my favorite chocolate dipped shortbread cookies from Raley's didn't hurt at all.
Following the Pinewood Derby, I left early to grab some dinner, then we followed our tradition of meeting at the Loveridges to view LOST. It is all quite fun. I love how traditions start. Always small and insignificant at first, then they build into great memories. The Loveridges make popcorn with real butter and Koolaid. Everyone else brings stuff if they have it and there you go, instant party. Barrett is a tyrant about LOST, no noise is allowed during the actual scenes because he has to take every moment in. He is the biggest LOST nerd I know. He has theories for everything. I know there are more out there but Barrett refuses to view anyone else's opinions on the subject because he doesn't want anything to influence his own theories.
In attendance for this episode was Rick, Alicia, Porter (with Owen in this picture), Barrett, Brandon, Spencer, me, Owen, Greg, Carrie and Tacy.
Side note: Owen got Porter to sleep which was cute to see, but the sound from the commercials being so much louder than the episode (have you noticed that?) startled him out of his slumber.
