Barrett's email, September 24th

Note to self - add previous paragraph from email before printing.

2 hour bus ride from Yaroslavl to Rybinsk

Gigantic Soviet plane outside the Elders' apartment in Rybinsk

On the shores of the River Volga

"And here we read in Moroni chapter 10 verse 4..."

Cool looking old house in Rybinsk

A "Teach Yourself Esperanto" book in russian. That's cool. And the most surprising part is that it doesn't belong to me. A recently baptized man in Yaroslavl gave it to the Elders who were teaching him. I'm kinda jealous
Here is is email:
I tried sending the previous paragraph with the pictures of the secret mission, but it was too much, so I had to cut and paste. It really was a cool experience, and you can't let me forget to tell you the full story when I get back.

So it sounds like another great week back in Placerville. Ward-wide indexing competitions. That's awesome. And Tyler B got his mission call! Oh man, he is going to be a great missionary! He is going to love his mission so much.

"Sputnik" is the name of the satellite, but it also means "traveling companion", from the root word "путь", meaning 'way' or 'path'. I got to be his traveling companion down to Kaluga, and it was awesome.

Concerning Hotels: Having looked at the options given, I think the best option would probably be the Cosmos. I've been inside it, well, not in any of the rooms, but the Russian National Dance show that I was telling you about is in it, and it looks like a nice place. As far as which metro stops we will probably go to, the Central Building is on Novokuznetskaya and Red Square is on Ploshad Revolutsii. So probably the most convenient location would be the Marriot one, but I'm sure the Cosmos will be fine. We can even go see the dance show right down stairs and if we want to go see my first area, it's not too far away. I think the most important consideration is the price. With the metro we can get anywhere we want to go, and all the options given are within reasonable distance from the places we want to go.

Okay, gotta go. It was a great week. I love you all. this picture thing wasted too much time, sorry.

Love you

Elder Hamp
