Placerville Christmas

There are some nights when I really get that I live in a small town.  Tonight was one of those nights.  Carrie was invited to the Christmas program at the Federated Church and asked if I wanted to come along. As I sat there watching the little chapel fill up with people from the community it just felt like a small town thing. I was suddenly grateful for all of these people who live in town of ours, where we  have little church programs like this.  These are good people trying to live good lives and make our tiny part of the world a better place. I thought of those kids, when they are all grown up, remembering the church Christmas program they were in every year that reminded them of why Christmas is Christmas. I thought of congregations all over Placerville doing their Christmas thing, just like we will be doing tomorrow night, remembering Christ at Christmas, and it made me smile.
